Locked or password-protected PDFs

Many bank statements come with security restrictions. Here's when PDFDrill can read them and what to do if a PDF needs a password to open.

Some banks add security restrictions to statement PDFs. There are two kinds:

  • It opens normally but blocks copying, editing or page extraction. PDFDrill reads these as they are. You don't need to remove anything, and your file isn't changed.
  • It asks for a password to open. PDFDrill can't read it. Open the PDF with its password, then save or print an unlocked copy (for example, Print → Save as PDF in your browser), and upload that copy.

If a file can't be opened, PDFDrill tells you so, and you aren't charged for it.
