Choosing on fit, not promises

DocuClipper and PDFDrill both offer bank-statement extraction and reconciliation checks. The right choice depends on your document volume, export needs and accounting workflow.

PDFDrill uses clearly stated monthly page quotas and separates general spreadsheet exports from Pro accounting-ready exports. DocuClipper offers direct accounting integrations, No per-user limit (all plans) and API access on paid plans. Compare the features you need, not only the entry price.

When PDFDrill may fit

You want to test statement extraction on a small sample before subscribing. The free plan includes 10 pages each month, OCR, balance and continuity checks, duplicate detection, and Excel/CSV output.

You mainly need spreadsheets: Starter includes 150 pages for $19/month. If you need accounting-ready exports, choose Pro: 500 pages for $39/month, including Xero CSV, QuickBooks-ready CSV, .QBO and a printable reconciliation summary.

You prefer to review exceptions before importing. PDFDrill shows balance differences and flags repeated transactions in overlapping statements so you can check the source. A passing check is not a guarantee that every field is correct.

When DocuClipper may fit

Consider DocuClipper if direct QuickBooks/Xero integrations, No per-user limit (all plans), automatic transaction categorization or API access on its entry paid plan are important to your workflow. Its site also lists additional financial export formats. PDFDrill accounting exports are downloadable files, not a verified direct-sync replacement.

Three steps

  1. Upload your PDF statement or a batch of statements.
  2. Review extracted transactions, balance differences and duplicate flags.
  3. Export Excel/CSV, or use Pro for accounting-ready files. Review the output against the original before importing it.

Questions

Is PDFDrill free?

There is a $0 plan with 10 pages each month. Paid plans start at $19/month. The free allowance is recurring, with a monthly page limit.

Which plan includes QuickBooks and Xero exports?

Pro and above. .QBO files import into QuickBooks Online's For review list. Xero CSV and QuickBooks-ready CSV apply to supported layouts; review compatibility with your target account before importing.

Can I use scanned statements?

PDFDrill includes OCR for scanned PDFs. Review extraction results, particularly for unclear scans.

Will the numbers always be correct?

No accuracy guarantee is made here. Balance and continuity checks help identify problems; they do not replace a review of the original statement.

How are files retained?

Standard conversions are deleted within 24 hours; statement-batch source PDFs are retained for 7 days and extracted data for 30 days. Review current retention information before uploading client data.

Does PDFDrill have the same features as DocuClipper?
